10 May 2009 — Streets of North Watford in 1901
Those who have already visited the Changes Through Time display, at North Watford Library, will have noticed the photographs showing Leavesden Road.
These pictures are just one part of the research that has been carried out by the Group. In keeping with the theme of the display, there are two new articles that illustrate Leavesden Road and Milton Street at the turn of the twentieth century. By using the 1901 census, and directories from the period, the researches have presented data that not only demonstrate the changes over the past hundred years, but also how constant certain aspects are.
